Grant FAQs and Tips for Applying

The grant application opens each year on June 1^st. The deadline to apply for the annual grant is the last Friday in August at 11:59 pm.  However, because 100 Shares Tampa Bay now only accepts the first 20 applications received electronically, it is best to start well before the grant deadline date to prepare your grant application and gather all required documentation to submit on or before the grant application deadline. The link to the application will close when the first 20 application are received and that may be before the August deadline.

No, once a grant application has been submitted, the applicant is not allowed to make revisions of any kind. Submission requirements must be followed exactly. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

If your ministry has NOT received a grant from 100 Shares Tampa Bay, you will be able to apply again every year.

If your non-profit DID receive a grant, you can re-apply for another grant after waiting two years.  For example, if your ministry was awarded a grant in 2019, you can re-apply to receive another grant in 2022.

All grant applicants must meet these nonprofit criteria:

1. Be a Christian nonprofit organization committed to serving those in need and proclaiming the Gospel.
2. Be geographically located in and serve those in the Tampa Bay area. This would specifically include Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.
3. Have a 501c3 IRS Tax Exempt Status for two years prior to the time of the applications.
4. May not be a church.
5. Use for Grant Money Requested
   • Cannot exceed one half of your current operating budget.
   • Cannot exceed 20% of the grant amount for salaries/stipends, advertising and marketing combined (salaries are defined as SUPPORT costs to conduct training or manage the proposed grant project).
   • Cannot use for ongoing operating expenses, rent, endowments or capital campaign.

Don’t try to be creative with your submission and don’t miss any of the components.  The grants committee is dedicated to creating a fair and equitable system for impartially analyzing the applications and have created a system where every ministry has a same chance to highlight their work. Please stick to our format and requirements and double check that each of the supporting documents has been uploaded.

100 Shares Tampa Bay only accepts grant applications for amounts between $25,000 and $100,000, so be sure to create proposals for projects that can be accomplished effectively within this funding range.
