God's people are at work all over the world. We know that's true, don't we? We write checks. We send our money to national and international Christian ministries to help with their work – work that we will never personally get to see carried out. But one of the greatest benefits of being a partner in 100 Shares is that we get the opportunity to see God's people at work right here in Tampa Bay.
Every year since becoming a part of 100 Shares, I have been privileged to go on site visits to the four ministries that are the finalists each year for our annual grant. I have been able to look in the eyes of the amazing men and women on the front lines right here in our area, touching the lives of people in all kinds of difficulties and hard places, touching the lives of young people with the truth of Jesus, reaching out to immigrants and prostitutes and people newly released from prison. I have been encouraged and uplifted to listen to these men and women speak passionately about the work they are doing, to shake their hands, and to pray for them. And so often, these are ministries that I didn't even know existed. But now I do. Now I can pray for them, tell others about them, even get personally involved if I choose to do so – because they are right here, not hundreds of miles away from me.

The spigot's volume of flow in our lives has everything to do with our hearts. A sparing heart is one bereft of gratitude, a vacuum of interest, love, and compassion for others. Just like having air in the pipes makes for a sputtering, inconsistent flow of water, so self-importance and greed make for miserly outpouring in a life turned in on itself.

I love how this friar sums up the mission of 100STB! We are on the Jesus team! There is no I; there is no "only me". No, there are 123 of us on the team! And we are recruiting more team members; we call them partners.

Contagious is sometimes associated with germs but this contagiousness is not. It's like spreading laughter and love! We want our generosity to spread. And it is spreading…a good thing! We have a valuable and worthwhile focus. We can go and tell and God will do His work.
